yeah. yeah. I really hope we get into a future where its possible to somehow make synthetic eggs and such out of some regular cells DNA. thatd be awesome.
i think the problem is not to make synthetic eggs. that should already be possible, at least in theory. you can take a normal egg cell and then replace the nucleus (that contains the DNA) with the nucleus from another cell. There: custom egg cell.
The problem is more, what comes next? The egg has to grow in a biological woman; i’m quite sure that we’re really far away from machine-baby-carrying.
so you would still need a person to carry the egg around, and currently, that’s actually the bigger problem (at least legally).
ngl i think this whole biological children thing is overrated. all humans share pretty much the same dna. i think it’s much more important what impact one has on their children and what values they pass along.

We actually aren’t too far away from that. It’s called IVG (in vitro gametogenesis). Over a decade of research has already been done on other animals, and in recent years they’ve moved on to getting it to work with human cells.
