Prepare for the worst, hope for the best.

and what if swine grow wings? And, more, if ifs and buts were candy and nuts, we’d all have a very merry Christmas indeed!

It’s one of my spouse’s favorite sayings when I’m in a spiral. “Pause for a minute, and let’s assume on the off chance society keeps going” and it brings me out of it. My therapist told me that once too, there are infinite possibilities between the best outcome and the worst, and probability says it will probably end up somewhere in between".

It’s easy on the internet to go full doomer, and to assume if it’s not the best case that it’s the worst, when really, it’s probably somewhere in between.

I get the intent, but that’s an AWFUL lot of “what ifs”.

I want to be cynical here, but I hope this comes true for as many people as possible.
