FU SPEZ
If she’s so sick of it, and they’re not doing anything about it, why does she still stay on Reddit?
Also, why are you re-posting this Reddit-specific drama on Lemmy? Let her make an account and post her stuff if she wants
Just here to say, fuck reddit.
I’m glad I never made an account on Reddit. The whole vibe of the site just throws me off completely. The snark subs were one of those reasons
Those shit comics is on here now too?
Some of us tried really hard not to let these drama-drenched nothing comics take over here, but it seems enough of the community thinks “relatable” is substitution for humor or substance, so here are. I’ve blocked some of the accounts that post PCC and similar garbage, but unfortunately you have a few users like King here who I don’t want to block because they do actually participate in the greater Lemmy community but unfortunately also mass-post a bunch of garbage like this low-effort because I’m sure some people think bad content is better than no content. 🤷

I’ve actually had to block her account on Reddit, because it’s usually low effort humor or just plain drama, but always highly upvoted - so always comes on top of your feed, in place of other comics. But you don’t have that option here since it’s not the official account posting…
I wish there was a comic creator label in such post titles, so we could easily filter them.
Doesn’t really seem like an actual problem this appears to be the first time one of these were posted in the past 4 weeks. Can just hide the post.
“now” is odd phrasing from an 8 day old account.
I think I’ve seen this artist’s work posted here for over a year.
The same reddit that allowed to nuke my account based on false bot claims and then refused to roll it back even though the perpetrators conveniently deleted their accounts shortly afterwards? checks out
At least you had bots, I had an actual mod of a huge sub report me to admins because I asked why I was banned for quoting someone’s comment and then reporting them for hate, 12 years of good standing and a stint as a mod also just flushed because the site is managed by unpaid child labor.
sorry to hear that. reddit is a lost cause at this point.
Reddit Admins hate user interactions. User interactions cost more money to oversee than passive readers.
Much of Reddit policy boils down to “get unsponsored users off our platform”. They don’t want your comments. They don’t want your posts. They don’t want your drama. They don’t want your input. They want you to show up, look at the sponsored links, maybe click a few, validate the advertisers’ spending on media influence, then keep fucking scrolling.
If you’re doing anything other than that, you’re a net lose to the company and you are uninvited from the platform.
Its a bit like going into a casino and winning money. Casinos don’t exist to pay you. Social Media doesn’t exist to platform you. You’re supposed to be a revenue generator, not a cost center. If you behave otherwise, the business will cut you just like they try to cut every other net-negative expense.
makes sense. too bad reddit turned out that way though. but then again - was there ever a platform that didn’t went to shit? Steve Hoffman’s forum is probably the only place that dodged the bullet mostly because it’s a bunch of nerds comparing high frequencies on Frank Zappa remasters
was there ever a platform that didn’t went to shit?
I guess you can argue that 4chan started out as shit and had nowhere better to go.
I might also note that platforms are, at their heart, reflections of the people who run them. And people get older, they leave certain platforms and join others, their tastes and interests change over time.
I think Reddit was doomed the day Aaron Swartz left way back in 2007. And I tend to see platforms and websites fumble the bag at the transition. No idea what’s going to happen to Wikipedia once Jimmy Wales is gone, for instance.
But new stuff comes in to fill the gaps. Its hard to see in hindsight, but there’s always green shoots on the horizon. You often simply don’t realize how nice a thing is until its gone.
yeah, i guess that’s the most sober response.
The same reddit that allows subreddit mods to get you banned site-wide on a whim
i got my account nuked right after some burner account started asking me to add them to my sub. after politely declining, dude just went on comment bombing spree, so i banned him and them my account got stalked into permaban. Which is stupid because I don’t post political stuff
I’ve only ever seen this message sent to harass people
“are you ok?”
I figured that was the intended purpose.
Agreed, I got many of these for being active in politics subs
I have only ever seen the “Harm prevention” report used exclusively for the purpose of harassment on Reddit. I’m talking like 99.99999% of the time. Everything about that: from the corporate flavored, performative bullshit to the superficially empathetic, and conspicuously caring, two-faced nature of the whole thing really pisses me off. I would prefer if they were just honest about not giving a fuck, frankly.
I think it’s because people know that those who really need that kind of help aren’t going to benefit from some corporate approved form “we care!” message.
So the people who use it are either the “wants to be helpful but is very bad at determining who needs help and how to help” type or the trolling type.
This is ironic considering the source. Didn’t she go crying to Reddit admins to stop people from sharing anything negative about her? I recall people being banned for simply saying they through her comics were low-hanging-fruit and generic.
yes. also a while ago I believe someone on Reddit came up with “proof” that she was also paying a PR type of company to upvote and post positive comments on her posts. Take it with a grain of salt but their proof was essentially people that would comment on her posts ONLY used reddit to comment on her comic posts.
Not a fan or her work or her onlyfans “work” but meh she does play the system well I’ll give her that.
Who is she? Context?
semi controversial “popular” comic artist on reddit. she also has an onlyfans. I kinda feel people like her comics purely because of the other stuff she does. a sort of para-social “notice me senpai”.
I’ve seen her comic pop up here and there regularly. They’re pretty basic and uncontroversial. The art is… fine. Family Circus tier material.
Didn’t even know she had an onlyfans. I can’t imagine people are flocking to “Reddit is run by assholes” content because she flashed her tits online. You don’t really need one to get the other.
She’s a cartoonist I’ve seen on Reddit, I personally don’t find her funny, but I am not a cartoonist and I must scream
She’s also kind of a shit person and this comic is really quite ironic coming from her
I have seen this sentiment before and nobody’s been able to say exactly why she’s a “shit person.” What did she do?
I don’t know if she’s done anything per se, but the reason I find her obnoxious is that most of her cartoons are of the format seen here, i.e. a strip in which she has an argument with someone and wins. Often the argument will be a fairly unsophisticated easy target, but will check the performative boxes required to get those shares and upvotes.
Also - as seen again in this very strip - there’s often a persecution/victim complex subtext at play, that never fails to get all the parasocial white knights riled up (edit: and it still seems to work over here too depressingly)
If Kelly from The Onion ever got rebooted as a social media liberal, it’d probably look a lot like her.
So she didn’t actually do anything bad, you just don’t like her style. I’m not sure exactly how being a successful but mid cartoonist makes you a “shit person” but I guess that’s where we are in society.
I didn’t say she didn’t do anything bad, I said I don’t know what she did. Others have in the meantime filled you in, but you’re tripping over yourself trying to get indignant over the answers to a question that you yourself framed in a loaded fashion.
I don’t think your dismissive characterisation of my position is particularly accurate either, which suggests your original question may not have been entirely in good faith…
My question was “what did she do that makes her a bad person” and you replied to my question with some vibe stuff, which I summarized, and now you’re butthurt? It’s okay to not like her comics, and that’s all I’ve read that she’s done bad.
I don’t get the big deal, I am not hiding that. Does that make my question in bad faith? Or does that make the way I summarized it hurt your feelings? I do not care, I just get really weirded out seeing internet hate campaigns against people who are fine and haven’t hurt anyone.
She threatened to sue people for saying they didn’t like her comics on her subreddit.
From what I’m reading, this became a cycle of “I’m going to report you to the Admins for being mean” / “I’m going to be even meaner because you reported me to the Admins” hate that culminated in the internet-standard doxing and revenge-porn-ing before it went legal.
For some reason, the practice of reposting people’s OnlyFans material outside the paywall in an effort to humiliate them is… fine? But getting lawyers involved over the release is over the line?
She tried to sue reddit mods a while ago.
I’m not that deep into that drama and don’t know why it started and what the outcome was.
wait thats based. Wtf I love pizzacomics now
Ah, reddit mods. Truly the most underprotected class who don’t deserve such foul hassles due to their unimpeachable history and consistent, upstanding behavior.
Lol, that service do more harm than good, it’s been used by others to harass people they don’t like, and people who are suicidal doesn’t really care about a bot reply. It’s essentially useless gesture.
It’s to protect Reddit from liability. Someone offing themselves is also the alleged reason for their zero tolerance policy.
Anyone else had this bot sent to them as harassment in itself? Fucking disgusting
Many times. Interestingly enough, mostly after being critical towards the alt-right (Nazis, Fascists, MAGA).
The perfidious idea is to remind potential suicides about the possibility. Imagine being that hateful.
Got one for the same reasons.
It made me laugh when it was in response to someone getting mad at me after arguing, but occasionally I’d make a highly upvoted comment that was related to being trans or gay and then get them, and that pissed me off. It’s not possible to prove that’s what happened without access to server logs of course, but I for sure wasn’t talking about being depressed or suicidal or anything like that on Reddit, and it was suspicious at minimum.
I had it sent legitimately by people. Obviously, I was a wreck.
It’s fun that it’s been weaponized to report people who you don’t like.
SUPER duper, SO fun!🤪
“Someone thinks you may be suicidal” translates to “you hurt someone’s feelings at some point”
I always knew I had won an argument when they stopped replying and I got the Reddit cares message. If the ‘report abuse’ link that was in those messages ever led to consequences I never saw it.
I’ve never heard of a single instance of someone getting a ban for abusing Reddit Cares, which is particularly bad given how easy it is to report and prove.
The new R*dditIsFun™
There has never been a place or moment where that wasn’t a thing. People suck, and any tools like that will always be misused. There’s a reason reporting people anywhere isn’t an automatic and immediate thing.
which is ironic since those messages originate from people doing it to harass people
the only time I’ve seen reddit cares deployed was by chuds harassing people.
Oh, PC is in no position to criticise Reddit for spreading snark and negativity.
No one said snark is bad, just some of the things snarky subreddits allow.
Ya, she was one only of the few comic artists I blocked as the comics never had any humor, just snark.
