Well you see in the 70s there was a soviet aligned communist government in Afghanistan, and the US didn’t like that, so they teamed up with these local guys called the mujahideen…

I was supposed to fly, with my whole family, later that morning. We drove instead.

From a famous promontory near watchung, with about a thousand people, I watched the second tower fall.
We had a peer set to interview at C.F that morning, right as the disaster started. He’d missed a ferry and that caused him to be late for his interview. Just as well.
A number of our friends commuted through that site every morning at the same time. Luckily, they all eventually reported in, but we’d thought they were affected directly for a lot of the day.

With a toddler! I wedged a little TV between the seats, facing backwards, and played a video of Cathy Rigby’s legendary performance of Peter Pan, over and over, all the way down, and all the way back. By the time we got home, I had the entire thing memorized, and I had never actually SEEN it.

You see when someone attacks America it is the worst thing in the world, when America bombs civilians nonstop overseas it is simply a Tuesday.
