I still don’t get “Reddit stock”. What value does a trumped up BBS offer?

They pretended that the content was written by humans. And Google needed data upon which to train its AI. I don’t think there’s any value in that, but if you are an AI investor, you might want to ride your bubble.

The rest of us know that Reddit is full of bots and you shouldn’t be training anything on it. But if you’re looking at data from three or more years ago, then maybe that’s more human written. Of course Reddit and Google deny that bots dominate, but we know they’re lying and they’re trying to make money off of the bubble anyway, so don’t trust them.

Did they actually get anything useful from Reddit given that 90% of the content posted there is just BS. Especially now since it will be mostly just recycling its own slop.

Banning you caused the stock to drop 9%? You must’ve had some prolific hot takes.

I got banned for showing, quote, “extreme indifference” when Kissinger took a dirt nap 😅

The existence of extreme indifference suggests the existence of mild indifference, where you actually do care about the subject matter a tiny little bit, but insufficiently to get to the heights of mild interest.

That was more or less the original comment back when they started. Bots were a thing on Reddit before of course but they really started getting out in hand around 2021 which was long before the deal.

The only thing I use Google’s AI for is to get text out of images. Which I’ll give it credit for it does very well even with extremely blurry content

My personal shame is to still google “product” + Reddit every month if so. Nothing compares to Reddit’s comments on recommendations.

It’s true, but the value is diminishing. I’ve tried that and more than once in the past half year, the advice within reddit posts were clearly astroturf AI-generated slop, and some of them were upvoted in similar amounts to apparent real recommendations.

Companies know Reddit is a recommendation hotspot, and stealth advertising is becoming typical business practice.

Internet is dead. If you just google the product, reddit will probably be the best result

I contributed first by no longer posting there and only rarely lurking on niches that aren’t popular here. I am contributing more now that they have blocked old.reddit, because ain’t no way I’m even lurking with the new interface.

I completely deleted my Reddit account, which is not a decision I took lightly, after more than 10 years of using that website frequently. I didn’t use any of the purge apps, my comments can be fossilized under [deleted] incase it helps anyone.

Makes me wonder if that’s a good indication of quality? I highly doubt bot accounts and astroturfers would ever delete their account, it’s too valuable for them. Deleted users are kind of verified human in a way.

And with them putting old Reddit behind a login, they’re just losing traffic.
They’re going to start getting really desperate to mine data and drive advertising dollars soon.

grok already illegally scraped all the free galleries from the early 00s with hundreds of shots of the same model in the various positions, making a deal with a porn aggregator just to get links to images already previously scraped and a few new gw pics don’t make sense

That’s about all I use it for these days… I can’t lie. It’s still not as good as Tumblr was at that task but I digress.
