Plastic caps being attached to bottles has nothing to do with carbon footprint, it’s to reduce plastic waste in the environment.

This is misinformation in the sense that caps got attached in order to reduce the likelihood of the bottle cap entering the environment since it is easy to loose, in particular when dumped illegally.

    At least AFAIK.

Also those are cold gas thrusters meaning they do take electric energy to power the compressors that refill them, not fossil fuels to burn them.

That being said super cars are a luxury for the medium rich.

Most of society’s electricity IS from fossil fuels. It has to be charged somehow.

Also the caps were attached to keep the bottle from becoming two separate pieces to help store plastic waste in a more consolidated manner. Also less choking hazards for animals and children.

i’m so excited for when i finally have enough money to buy: an RV with enough solar panels on it to recharge an EV and an EV powerful enough to tow the damn RV.

what’s the electric version of rolling coal? blasting Leslie Gore when we pass someone? that will be so fun.

Well, all you had to do was learn a foreign language (your fourth), have a job in technology, spend a year preparing, get rid of most of your possessions, abandon your family and friends, move over 10,000 KM, change hemispheres, then find a job before you run out of money, and finally, you too could have spent a year in freedom and then have it all collapse as a part of the pandemic and AI boom.

I’m not doing OK. BTW, 19th of November is international men’s day. Maybe if people want the chuds to STFU on march 8th, reach out to people next month.

Pay attention to how much of a fuss is made to the problems that men that aren’t powerful face on November 19th and you’ll understand why.

I’ll try to remember to let you know this time around.

SpaceX and Xai merger started with the complete fraud that datancenters in space are an economically viable proposition, when even in the US, solar and batteries on leased Nebraska farmland, is over 5x cheaper, even with most optimistic launch cost assumptions.

Adding jump thrusters to cars is an unrealistic/impractical fraud to justify a spacex tesla merger.

It’s to pretend they’re actually doing something when people dropped deposits on the 2020 roadster in 2017.

That ignores the part where data centers in space are just stupidly complicated to currently basically being impossible

You have to start with little things like network latencies, but when you get to heat dissipation things just get stupid.

Then again, stupid impossible is kinda Elmo’s modus operandi. Just claim you’ll do something stupid and or impossible, people will dance for you, then you just get billions to spend a fee years pretending that you’re actually doing it and then you, you know, just dont do it. Elmo musk in a nutshell. IH, that and Hitler babies, that too is his thing

When tethered caps are done well, mostly seen on flat-caps for water bottles, they’re actually very convenient. Just flip them over until they click in place and you don’t have to worry about holding them or placing them somewhere. Flip them back to close the bottle.

Unfortunately that often is not the case and then they suck.

I wish we could organize to ignore those idiotic product show-offs from billionaire’s playgrounds. No talking, no commenting, no sharing, living as if it ever happened. This would make those products be abandoned by investors and fade into the nothingness they deserve, along with their ego and all the invested money.

    One can dream…

The direct connection escapes me, too.

It would be more reasonable to compare a measure, that actually helps to reduce trash and co2 footprint with that flying car. Plus: there is no reason to stop it, just because there is one very rich, annoying guy.

The effect of one toy project (look at me I build flying cars. Look at me!) isn’t that big. Like Kanemann said, people are poor intuitive statisticians.

The Roadster FV uses cold gas thrusters, IE compressed air. There’s no carbon footprint apart from the energy used to run the compressor.

EU decision. All caps used in single use beverage containers (bottles etc). Around 100 billion bottles per year are used in the EU.

The goal is not reduce the carbon footprint, but to reduce litter (loose caps ending in the environment).

It is convenient if implemented well, and annoying if not.

A big thing in Europe now. It might be limited in some areas based on whether the plastic of top and bottle need to be separated for recycling.

It’s awesome. I love having a few drops of liquid in the cap and the cap being in my face while drinking, the drops on my face now.

Also great for people with disabilities who can not hold things that good and caps sometimes snapping back can make a mess eg when pouring.

Yes, while it sounds exaggerated I’ve had it all happen sometime. So I tear them off.

Disabilities are a weak argument. Depending on which one, tethered caps can be either beneficial or not. In any case, they are relatively easy to tear off, by design. If you aren’t disabled they should be no challenge at all. Indeed I don’t know a single person who feels challenged by them, non of them have them in their face while drinking and I have no idea what drops you are facing either. Surface tension that keeps drops in a cap also keep it there while drinking.

I am and I have issues with it. So?

I have neurological issues so motor skills don’t work as they should. I could lash back at presumptions but I am tiredly used to it. Also getting downvoted for speaking out.

I also have sensory issues in public transport with the loud beeping on closing doors, which is the cheap way to help (partly) blind people.

It already sucks to be disabled.but what sucks even more is people like you invalidating personal experienced issues because you have no idea.

Deal with your own weak tolerance.
