Mars will be the next US. it will be hypercapitalistic tech-bro place
Musk is insane but the EU is hated around the world for a reason. Some of the sane member countries feel the same way.
Is it though?
a good compromise is something that everyone is unhappy with, and the EU is such a compromise
Honestly, this shows that EU is doing the right thing.
If he builds a mars capable rocket, ensure he is on it and that it cannot make a return trip
Let’s face it: The EU is the last remaining democratic global power. Russia is a dictatorship, so is China, and America is only a democracy on paper since they elected Mango Mussolini.
Here’s the dark future that could very well happen if we allowed these right wing fucks to succeed with their plans:
- Their first goal: Get a majority of European countries to vote for authoritarian, alt-right, pro Trump, anti EU governments. Russia has been working towards this for decades.
- Actually dissolve the EU so Russia, China and America remain as the only relevant global powers.
- Authoritarian European nations become hostile towards other nations. As hostile as America is now already.
- National particular interests within the EU are cause for dangerous tensions again.
- International relations become much more volatile.
- Nations suddenly don’t give a fuck about multilateral contracts anymore.
- Some weaker, paranoid nations secretly develop nuclear weapons programs.
- Radioactive shit is going to hit the fan sooner or later.
- GAME OVER.
Only democratic nations working together and people who strongly oppose demagogues and fascism have a chance to prevent that from happening. The EU is a fundamental building block to ensure this for Europe.
Have we not learned from WWII and 60 million deaths? Are humans really so dumb? If that’s really the case, we deserve to go extinct.
You can’t call it Democratic when entire political views are blocked from speech. The EU is a train wreck and I don’t plan on ever returning again.
Is that political view national socialism by chance?
I think it is so telling and Euro-brained to say that the European Union, infamously still dependent on slavery and colonialism to function, is not only the only democratic system in the world, but that also any failure to resemble this system is a reflection of the moral impurity inherent to humanity and not an indication of how this system fails to operate in the best interests of humans.
Fucking. Wild. If you want to respond to this, make sure you tell me your favourite decolonial scholars in your comment.
To be fair, the EU is the only democratic alternative since they have enough size, strength and influence to not just resist outside influence, but also to project influence. Latin America is too disunited and the African Union is not at that stage yet to be as influential as the EU. For Asian countries, they are too insular and tribalistic to form their own regional bloc that is strong enough to resist outside influence.
Why would I ever be fair to imperialists? The EU exists because Europeans looted the rest of the world until infighting became a genuinely destructive threat to their ability to continue that way of life. There is no altruistic element in its existence, it is to secure the interests of a capitalist and imperialist system. You are uncritically accepting an imagination of democracy that is built around those interests. Anything that isn’t advantageous to them is “undemocratic.” The enslaved people who they subsist on don’t get a vote, neither do the people who live in the ecosystems European companies pollute.
Hmmmmmm I wonder why it’d be so difficult for people in the global south to organise and assert their best interests. Maybe there’s say, a historical system of oppression that depends on their subordination and disunity to exist HHMMMMMMMMMMMM.
The EU is evil, I do not accept imperialist definitions of progress.
You are so full of shit. Tell me one other power in the world who upholds the agreements that they sign. Be it the decleration of human rights, to the paris agreement, convention on biodiversity, or pollution standards. Tell me how these are beneficial to the capitalist imperialist elites.
Are you in the EU or from the global south?
Latin America is the unsung hero IMO. They have a “pink tide” since their leaders are mostly moderate leftists. There are exceptions of course such as El Salvador and Argentina (although to my knowledge, Javier Milei is nowhere near in trying to curtail civil liberties and human rights). Latin America had been off US’ radar since the Cold War and they can use that time to build closer relationships amongst each other by strengthening MERCOSUR and military ties.
There is Africa. Again, while there are exceptions, by and large many African nations are doing their best to uphold democratic values. The West African bloc, ECOWAS, had been great in the past ten years to oust African leaders who don’t want to step down. When Brexit happened, the African Union allowed freedom of movement among AU citizens at the same time. I can see AU becoming more united, although it will take more time than we would hope for.
India will become authoritarian I would say in the next couple of generations. The neoliberal policies and flirting with fascism by Modi have sown the seed for full blown far right movement in decades to come as far as I can tell.
For the Far East, they are too insular and have their own stupid, age old inter-racism against each to be more united, and the fragmented geography of Far East Asian countries, that is not China, makes cultural exchange and understanding difficult to create kinship necessary for a more political union. But I think they may stay democratic for the foreseeable future (now, Japan has a little surge of far right, but they are not a threat in the immediate future). Unless there is Asian NATO, the Far Eastern democracies won’t hold against the threat of China. Although again, Asians are too insular and geographically fragmented for closer cooperation.
Your comment is very insightful and I agree with your observations. As a European one tends to focus too much on the places around the world which keep doing things right. Latin America truly is an unsung hero, what with the kind of economical troubles they have been going through. One would think they would be far more susceptible to demagogues and propaganda than nations of the so-called “western hemisphere”.
“We” didn’t learn. As evidenced by this all happening the instant the last people who experienced WWII directly started to fade from the discussion. They couldn’t even wait for all if them to be dead before restarting.
To answer your question in chronological order.
No. Yes, even more than you can expect. Indeed.
But ypu gave a great comment tho, thank you for that.
I hate that I have to ask this but what particular musky giving a nazi salute is this in reference to?
When musk did this after a speech

Like it’s not even… I dunno. He doesn’t look touched in this moment, he looks vengeful, filled with animosity, contempt for his enemies, that’s what this is giving. Not “my heart goes out to you” vibes, at all.
He did it twice in fact
Oh I assumed this was a recent one I missed.
He turned around and did it to the background behind him too, for some reason!
His heart goes out to that background
Elon is too chickenshit to sit on top of one his own rockets let alone go to Mars. He has bigged it up in the past, but he’s a coward and he’ll make some lame excuse why some other poor bastards should go on the one way trip and not him.
Seriously, fuck this guy.
I would love a nice and peaceful world. Honestly, I would…but there are some people who deserve to be assassinated.
He knows he deserves it, too. He’s apparently so paranoid he has constant security detail. I hope one of them gets a wild hair one day. Miserable piece of shit.
I appreciate this. I get the feeling anti-EU Europeans are going to develop greater support for the institution just as a “fuck you” to this asshole. Look how Canada came together when Trump started his 51st state bullshit.
Brexit was great in this regard. All the assholes went really quiet after it for a looong time.
The German far right party AfD loves Musk, Trump and Putin. They very much hate the EU (and happiness and all things pretty). And they’re still gaining more traction.
paint them for what they are: anti-Germany.
Not helping, on the contrary even…
AfD is funded by Russia. they will betray German interests at every opportunity while selling ppl rage at OTHERS.
I know, its a shitfest. But painting them anti germany will draw in the people that want to “break the status quo” while not knowing fully what that will bring… See america and france for example
i dunno how to stop this except to point at Brexit and Trump for what happens when you just “break the status quo” for funsies. if they can’t understand why that’s bad, then maybe we’re just fucked.
Europe, please do something good for all mankind and nuke the shite out of the US.
Their cancer must not be allowed to spread any further
Who is Amy? Skynet AI?
It was any xd stupid autocorrect
🌚I know
I wonder what laws the EU has enacted that bother him. Does the EU do that? What does the EU do, exactly? Have giant committees to decide the shape and size of the stars on the EU flag?
The EU has fined X.
Ah, there we go. Thanks. I really can’t keep up with the world anymore, but Musk, like Trump, is the furthest thing from a statesman. It’s all interest with these guys, not values or philosophies.
X just received a fine of 100+ millions for disobeying the EU laws. Musk political sense go as far as his wallet
Make it a one way trip for him please…
Also, he’s not allowed to take his money and assets with him, leave and disperse those assets for the rest of the people here.
He can go dig for his own gold and shit and establish his own worthless economy on his dead rock if he wants, assuming he would even survive…
He famously claimed that you could give Mars an atmosphere and terraform it with nukes. He should try that once he gets there.
Looking at progress of his rocket launch, the trip would end early.
As I understand it, There’s no way with current technology for a trip to Mars to be a round trip thing really. It’s a one and done.
Mars colonization was intended for the first settlers to settle. Not return.
Technically we totally could, if you can ship 1 kilogram to mars you can ship a spaceship to mars capable of getting back with enough un-manned trips in advance. Economically feasable however it is not.
it’s even really difficult technically, because you have to keep the propellant cool on the surface of mars while you stay there, which is really difficult. in outer space, it’s possible because there’s only sunlight as a heat source, and if you create a shadow, then it’s chilly as fuck, but on the planet surface, winds will carry heat to the fuel deposit and eventually warm it up, and cooling that amount of propellant is expensive (energy-wise) as fuck.
and no communication devices, cameras or things like that. I don’t want to hear from him again.
Can we blow up the ship halfway and call it an oopsie?
Or just land it several thousand kph faster than planned.
Show kph but use mph might do the trick
Mom I want a planet to destroy. We have a perfectly good planet to destroy at home. The planet we have at home:
His father probably asked him “why just limit yourself to just one?” I mean… he’s racked up the offspring, so why not destroy every possible option of a place for them to live?
Most of his offspring fucking hate him.
money and assets with him
The money is of no use on Mars, and billionaires can’t relocate many of their assets anyway
Let “it” take the money along, it will be of no use there and won’t be available on the market here, if anything, it might counter inflation for a week or two to remove it from Earth.
Let me introduce you to a show called, For All Mankind. It’s on Apple TV here in Europe, not sure about the rest of the world.
Spoiler: you get exactly your wish.
Tbf it isn’t censored in the US either.
and stay there
