Now THIS is walking on sunshine
The amount of people not understanding this is mental
Explain please …
Someone is probably huffing it to get high
People use that word wrong. If it’s paid after the service is provided, it’s a tip. If it’s paid before, then it’s a bribe
Why not invest a little time in an air compressor and a refillable can?
You can still add the shitty chemicals from bulk.
This is someone huffing cans, they’re not in a position to be setting up their own drug enterprise
Or to be thinking of how to more cleverly kill their brain cells
There’s also electric air blowers now that are prett6 great. My wolfbox blower is shockingly powerful.
Oh my sweet summer child…
I am indeed a very boring person.

What a waste. $15 air compressor for blowing up air beds does a better job, with no pollution
i dont think its for computers 😞
Almost all of that has some sort of additive now that makes it extremely unpleasant to huff.
was it ever plesant to begin with
You just have to blow it through a folded up rag usually… Otherwise, do you think an addict would stop just because it tastes bad?
How would they start considering how expensive it is and with the additive?
Like nitrous canisters are decently cheap
Cheaper ways to get high.
Probably safer, too.
I’d recommend one of these
A cheap no name brand works too but I enjoy this one. Definitely overpriced at full price but it’s on sale.
You can also pay a little more and get a duo tool that’s a tire inflator or a vacuum as well as a blower. Great for the car
I was about to say to buy an electronic duster instead, then it dawned on me
Got one a couple years back. God damn thing would push a Schooner against a current. Brilliant piece of kit.
Next best thing to boofing?
I’m walking on sunshine
They sang, drooling and laying in a puddle of their own piss.
I wish I had a father.
I wish I didnt
What is that stuff?
Compressed air. Used to clean electronics. You can also use it to get high (which is what is being implied is happening here) with some very serious side effects.
Very serious == death, dont do it kids.
So more likely compressed nitrogen or something. I can’t see people getting high on air.
More specifically it’s usually a chemical called tetrafluoroethane and yes it is absolutely horrible for you
If you turn them upside-down you can use them to make stuff cold also.
I used to do that to doorknobs as a kid. Getting high never occurred to me but it’s good I didn’t know were flammable because… 🔥
Also very flamable that way.
Cans of compressed air to blow out computers.
Thanks. I was wondering, especially about the abuse stuff. Could this be more like compressed nitrogen?
Lots of blow jobs.
I hope anyone who does these dusters realizes you can get whip it’s on Amazon for like 20 bucks, then a cracker for a other 20, and then they won’t be absolutely destroying themselves and their lungs. I also hate all the misinformation surrounding nitrous, fucking dentists use it for fucks sake, shits safe as long as you don’t abuse it.
Chronic use can really fuck people up though. Nitrous oxidizes b12 in the blood stream destroying it and that can lead to neurological issues.
I also hate all the misinformation surrounding fentanyl, fucking surgeons use it for fucks sake, shits safe as long as you don’t abuse it.
I also hate all the misinformation surrounding Ivermectin, horse vets use it for horses’ sake, shits safe as long as you don’t abuse it.
I was once given cocaine eye drops in a hospital though (it’s a combined vasoconstrictor and analgesic, which makes it good for facial injuries that tend to hurt and swell/bleed a lot). Just because something can have a clinical use case doesn’t make it safe for anyone to use it regularly.
Had a minor surgery earlier this year. They gave me fentanyl as the drug to put me under. Was hella surprised about it. Also I see why people love that shit so much.
But also for fentanyl’s danger, I think it comes down to how small a dose you need to hit the LD50/50 point is so low that you can hit it by accident without even trying. Street drugs are also being laced with Fentanyl and not in safe / well regulated doses. If you had a lab grade supplier, it’d probably be safer / easier to do safely…but I don’t think that’s what people are doing…
Are you sure the fentanyl wasn’t supplemental to something else like propofol? It’s not used for anesthesia induction before surgery AFAIK, just pain relief afterwards. If the IV burned a little when they pushed the plunger down on a syringe full of milky fluid, that was propofol.
But I can see an anesthesiologist saying something like, “We’re going to put you under now. We’ll give you fentanyl so you won’t be in pain when you wake up.”
I’m not sure.
I want to say they gave me two stages of anesthetic, but I also think fentanyl was the first of the two stages (counter to what you’re saying should have happened). But also, I’m at best an amateur at chemistry; even less when it comes to medicine. That said, reasonably certain what they gave me was not milky nor did it burn going in (you’ll have to excuse me if I misremember any deets, it was my first time going under and I was irrationally nervous about it)
I could have some things mixed up, but it did stand out in my mind that they used fentanyl (and I remember how fuckin’ nice it felt when they threw it in my veins). But that’s how I remember it.
I don’t know what order they should have been given in. Maybe the fentanyl was first? Did your tongue just go numb and your vision go dark for a few seconds before you passed out or did it feel like an angel tossed you into a zero gravity hot tub and instantly jerked you off?
Lmao, love those descriptions.
It was more the second one (tho I think the dose was small enough to miss the full jerked off effect).
But it also wasn’t a full “being put under” (they said they were aiming for a full under situation, but that they really just needed to “turn off” my sensitivity in some sensitive spots), and so I have at least a fuzzy memory of everything that happened along the way.
Comparing nitrous oxide to fentanyl is actually fucking stupid.
True, fentanyl might kill you while nitrous will just put you in a wheelchair for the rest of your life. With poor fine motor so even gooning won’t be the same.
If Steve O didn’t end up in a wheelchair from his nitrous use, then I think that might be a hyperbole…
Only if you abuse it. Like I had said already.
you’re right, one can be bought legally and used to even be available on amazon and the other gets you in jail
Only destroying their cerebellum. Who needs it?
Recreational use of nitrous oxide (N2O) has increased rapidly in recent years and is now the second most commonly used recreational drug among young people in the UK. There has been a corresponding rise in cases of nitrous oxide-induced subacute combined degeneration of the cord (N2O-SACD), a pattern of myeloneuropathy usually associated with severe vitamin B12 deficiency. This can cause serious and permanent disability in young people
They were abusing it, clearly.
The only recreational use of N2O I know of is to add a tank of it in a car and pipe it into the fuel mixture.
And even that seems kinda snake-oily to me.
Don’t even bother with crackers, they suck. Just buy a 1L+ tank and some big balloons from Amazon.
Also, don’t do it every day, or even every other day. You will fuck up your vitamin B12 reserves and you’ll quickly discover what happens. Having a binge once a week is much better for you than a couple balloons every day.
I’d also point out ripping nitrous hits out of balloons is most definitely abuse. Ain’t nobody out there using a regulator and metering their nitrous intake like medical usage.
You’re metering it to one punch balloon every couple minutes! And when you wake up, you have another. It’s self-regulating.
I would like to say I’m 10+ years out from the days I’d drive down to Bristol PA and pick up two or three 20 pound tanks from some random fire safety place. Definitely abusable, and easily so. We’d pound a 5h energy and Gatorade after and you’re right as rain, which is not good, needs to be harder to feel fine after.
Correct me if I’m wrong, doing whippets is text book abusing it
no. doing hundreds of them is.
finally made a lemmy account just to downvote you. don’t fucking do whippets they can paralyze you for life. I’ve seen it. And dentists use it because they have years of training and proper equipment and they understand the risks (unlike you clearly).
A once a year huff at your favorite music festival is fine but yeah, two of my friends started having trouble walking and while another friend and me realized our hearts were doing weird stuff and quite that stuff. Turns out it oxidizes the b12 in your blood stream. They started getting b12 injections but spending an afternoon huffing destroys all the b12 in an injection. Better to quit.
Happy cake day.
I’m not late according to my timezone
People doing duster are not usually the same people doing nitrous. In my years of working in a hospital, duster addicts were the worst of the drug addicts mentally and physically.
shits safe as long as you don’t abuse it.
You literally just explained how to abuse it though…
Pretty sure what these people are doing is the definition of abuse though.
Bro is going to fucking die 😭😭😭
‘At least he died doing what he loved: a bunch of whip-its’
Those aren’t whip-it’s. Nitrous abuse would almost be healthy compared to huffing air dusters
Died of blow job
And he’s gonna be… HIGH, as a kite by then.
NGL, I’d buy that much at Costco just to have on hand and not have to buy duster for a while until I figured I could just use something like a air matress filler pump.
At that point just buy a a 5lb CO2 tank. That’s what I use in my work van. It’s a bit more expensive upfront but it’ll last longer, it’s refillable, higher pressure, and the cost of refills makes it cheaper per pound of gas. If you want to get really fancy then you also put a regulator on it so you aren’t dusting as 700 PSI but that’s optional. Plenty of my coworkers just tap straight off the tank.
They say you’re not supposed to use a vacuum but I do.
Might just be a home user regassing his air conditioner. Air duster is usually just r410a
I’m not sure where you’re getting your air duster but none of the stuff I’ve seen is R-410a. It’s usually R-134a or R-152a. R-410a would be a much higher pressure. Trying to run an R-410a system on either of those refrigerants would not work out well.
Also even if they are full of whatever refrigerant you need, they aren’t even close to pure enough to use in an AC system. I’m also not sure how you’d get it out of the can and into the system. You would need to make some sort of custom piercing tap or adapter for the can.
Yeah you’re right, r134a was what I was thinking of. I had to look for it when regassing the car but just ended up going with hychill
It’s 152a, difluoroethane. It’s never 410a or 134a.
Really? I think air duster is usually just pure CO2 (the ones without HFC at least)
CO2 is 750+ psi at room temperature. A pressed sheet steel can is typically less than 100psi.
If you don’t use a liquid propellant, the pressure will drop a lot as you use it. The effect is worse the fuller the can is.

https://science.howstuffworks.com/innovation/everyday-innovations/aerosol-can3.htm
It’s compressed CO2, not liquid CO2.
They marketed is as a non flammable non HFC air duster which you can hold upside down, often with something like 360 or something in the name. Since it’s just compressed gas, it doesn’t spray a liquid like the HFC ones do.
