I accidentally taught my 4 year old flip cup.

They had a “noon-years eve” party which celebrated the new year at noon… then the adults went a step further

The last time I went to a bar on New Year Eve, I paid 20 bucks to get in, bought my first drink and started goofy dancing to a song that came on the radio. Then I got thrown out for being intoxicated.

I’m drinking a mango margarita and eating spaghetti. This was not a wise combination choice, yet here I am.

There comes a certain age where if someone invites you to a New Year’s Eve party you’re just furious with them.

I’m working this year, but the wife lucked out hard. She got invited to a house party, then today her friend called and said everyone except the two people hosting are sick, so it’d just be the three of em.

Hey introverts, if it’s just some friends getting together, go hang out with them. You’re not “an introvert” you’re introverted, you’re out of shape. Flex those muscles a little and force yourself to rebuild community.

Community is what will save our future more than any amount of posting or tweeting or advocacy about whatever this week’s social issue is. Stop wearing your labels and excuses like a shield to keep yourself from doing the hard things.

No, shut up. I don’t want to hear it. Do or do not, there is no try.

Hang out with a dozen people from the neighborhood at someone’s house. Short travel, cheap drinks, nice food, neighbors will help me home, if I’m too wasted.

Some people enjoy pay all of their money to play cards, too.

And others pay money to gain cancer.

Like imagine getting cancer treatment in a hospital and looking out the window and seeing someone smoking. Two people doing the exact opposite things.

Some people pay money to enjoy their lives, and savour every moment, even if it means cutting the crap a little short.

I don’t smoke, as the risk/reward isn’t worth it to me personally, but if it’s what it takes for others to be happy, all the power to em. Knock themselves out. Literally heh.

I’d rather live 50-60yrs to their fullest, than live 80-90 mediocre years inside watching the latest Netflix crap or tv repeats (not to say there aren’t times when I enjoy it).

I’m so glad that my partner and I just stay in and enjoy each other’s company with some drinks. Going out on NYE is absolutely god awful.

    My admittedly boring method:

    • stay home

    • do stuff, maybe video games

    • go to sleep whenever I feel like it

    • wake up at the normal time

I’ve found that, at least for me, I need to do social things, amazing things, and ceremony around it is also fine. Otherwise, I lose track of time and dark thoughts happen.

I encourage all to celebrate holidays or special events as much as you can, while you can. Every morning you wake up and can see and hear and smell and taste and feel and think. And if you’re short somewhere in that list, you probably already understand what I’m talking about. Life is short and a lot of people want yours to be shitty. Don’t let them win.

That being said, if you like playing videogames, don’t let the people who don’t appreciate that to make you feel like that isn’t quality time.

I used to stay up when I was younger just to witness the year changing, but now I’m old and just go to bed. It will be there in the morning.
