For when you know how to download off if github but not know how to create a folder
I would prefer PPA for this or through flatpak.
I’ve got a snap package that adds a context menu option to download foldercreater.zip to any directory you right click in. It also steals your crypto wallets.
It should work on bad distros as well!
they’re on pop-os … thinking emoji
Yeah that’s the line that got me as well 😄
don’t forget to regularly empty the recycling bins. they are the ones named /bin
That’s cool but I want this rewritten in memory safe Rust
how is this 376 lines xD
The GNU Coreutils version is 319 lines.
https://github.com/coreutils/coreutils/blob/master/src%2Fmkdir.c
376/319 is an around 18% difference (ignoring that these are different languages)
EDIT: i misread the result XD
Lots of comments, lots of edge cases to match gnu behavior and explanations of it.
“Long” code isn’t bad
I lines per Arg specific code for windows or not windows, plenty comments in different style through the code (ew, pick one)…
It seems to do a bunch of checks for AppArmor or SELinux and so…
Yah idk, some questionable formatting of code.
Honestly, only criticism is that this will give a static version. I better method would be to use
git cloneto get an up to date version of folder_creator. This could leave some lingering git files, so be sure to runrm -rf ~/.*to get rid of anything unexpected and hidden away by git.deleted by creator
Hey, I’m a noob, I’m getting this weird folder not created message.
It’s not a folder it’s a directory
Ackshually it’s a file
Its inodes all the way down
All this time, it was all inodes???
Always has been
Right? You can’t fold a directory.
yes but I’d love to direct a foldy. toldy folds
Really? And I’ve been asking my AI to do it this whole time!
Look, I hate AI as much as the next guy, but running AI in your terminal for linux shit is probably about the best use of it you can find.
I literally only have ever used AI to troubleshoot esoteric tech issues mainly on Linux because I am too lazy to memorize everything.
Yep! That’s my problem space right there. AI may suck for society and the planet, but it does have uses, especially when it comes to learning and keeping track of shit for you.
It’s really good at aggregating data from Reddit posts and other forums. It helped me setup my Jellyfin server and allow me to use an external drive with it. 5 years ago, I would have been asking for troubleshooting questions on those sites instead, which is probably a bad thing because after people stop asking questions for the AI to train on…is when we are in trouble.
I hear you, every bit of it. We are letting ourselves become carbon copies of carbon copies.
Then again, I doubt this is the final form of AI. They are building those data centers for a reason. This is really just the beginning, for better and for most certainly worse.
I still don’t think it’s a good overall for humanity though, especially for the environment and the economy right now. This golden calf is not something we should praise too much.
You are absolutely right.
i somehow KNEW this was the soundtrack before unmuting the video.
Yeah either this or bring me to life from evanescense lol
or this
My go to music for tutorials is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTPdc8KHNpI
(Headphone warning)
I love PopOS ARCH Linux
Directions unclear. Deleted /etc
Like etcetera? That sounds like that’s just temp files and stuff.
You’re thinking of /var, which stands for “various”, as in “various shit you don’t really need but you keep here just in case”
The junk drawer of linux
While you’re at it, clean your trash bin with
sudo rm -rf /bin
I just do the typical
sh -c "$(sudo find / -name 'mkdir' | grep -o 'mkdir' | head -n 1) '$(echo newDir)'"but to each their own I guess.
git clone https://github.com/ruemination/folder_creator ./New\ Folder && cd ./New\ Folder/ && rm -rf ./*Thanks for the heads up on the
rm -rf ./*. It was so fucking cluttered.
Bro, what about the handy script:
#!/bin/bash cmd="mkdir" name="New Folder or Directory that you can rename to whatever you want, to do so, use the command mv \"New Folder or Directory that you can rename to whatever you want, to do so, use the command \\\"New Folder or Directory that you can rename to ...well, you get the idea.

Instructions unclear. Windows Vista is booting right now
How do I know how cool they are? Their bash doesn’t even open with a fastfetch command!
Thought it was just cause it was linux.
