That’s the most deranged take on ads I’ve ever heard. Sure, fuck the billion dollar companies and their ads. Artists? Dude what the fuck, you’re stealing they’re work and taking active steps to remove the artist’s name. Nobody is gaining anything on this, the artist looses, and OP looses both time and fucking respect. What the hell is wrong with that person.
The difference being that an ad is trying to sway you to buy a product, but a credit or signature on art is “here’s who created this thing THAT YOU ARE ALREADY EXPERIENCING”.
I don’t know why they can’t distinguish between those.
Seems evil enough to me, if they’re doing it purpoesly why hasn’t a mod or someone told em to knock it off and to start their own instance with their bs?
iirc the two posts per day limit came into being as a response to someone making accounts, posting mediocre-at-best rage bait comics, deleting their accounts, repeat ad nauseam, and never engaging in the comments
Well that explains the recent push to not remove attributions instead of just requiring them. Must have missed that post because of the down vote threshold.
Thanks. That’s quite the extreme take, I get not wanting a crappy watermark across the whole comic. But a subtle signature, or small panel with their name should be fine.
If they erase social links, that’s still crappy but more understandable.
If they really believe the image it self shouldn’t have a credit, then they should put the credit in the post description. They could use a spoiler, so it’s up the individual if they want to be “advertised” to.
The OP has stated that they won’t consistently attribute sources, even in the way you suggest, until the community implements the rule they want enforcing that users strip attribution out: https://lemmus.org/comment/17161116
They don’t deserve your benefit of the doubt, unfortunately.
This is a comic by beetlemoses.
OP believes that leaving in the comic name or artist’s signature is “advertising”.

They have been caught repeatedly removing them through cropping and other means.

This community doesn’t have any active mods.
Can you apply to be one?
Or do we need to make a new community?
You can try petitioning the instance admins to remove the absent mod and put someone else in charge.
That sucks. Tho if it did and they enforced the two post limit per day rule, that would also suck.

I think the mod in this sun hasn’t been active for about a month

What a tool.

Wow, what a loony. Must have gotten on the wrong end of his high horse.
Damn I didn’t know about that post of theirs.
