Unlike the rest in of your entire life, your usually a mess Like so much so I genuinely think you forgot to do your hair today and that is why it is better, you are actively making the situation worse.

I have to be careful how I complement my wife because her anxiety disorder causes her to think like that.

I can never say, “Your butt looks good in those jeans,” because that means it doesn’t look good without the jeans. I have to say, “those jeans look good on your butt.”

If this resonates with you - if you find yourself overthinking compliments and feeling quite insecure about them - I would really recommend considering talking to a therapist about it. I know how that sounds, but I really believe that more people should speak to a therapist. It sounds a lot more expensive than it actually is, and many therapists offer reduced rates for people on low incomes.

I went to see a therapist because my employer paid for it and I thought “may as well give it a try” and it absolutely changed my life in so many ways. I never would have gone to therapy if it wasn’t for that because I thought I was fine, but looking back… guys, I was not fine, I just didn’t have the tools to understand myself, I struggled so much with so many things I thought were just normal, I didn’t see how my emotional issues were causing so many of the problems in my life.

Long story short, therapy saved my life, and it might save yours, too. Give it a try!
