Indulge me for the coming delusion, but if we ignore who this is, forget all the reasons we know that we can’t trust him, and allow ourselves just a few moments to hope that we could live in such a world.

A world where manual labor is no longer needed, where people can just exist as large mammals are meant to exist. Robots will handle it all and we can just do as we please… and the robots are going to be plentiful because once enough of the process of making a robot becomes automated, the cost of it will go to zero. But to get there it is going to require a ton of money… these robots are going to be way too expensive for people to actually buy them, so investors and governments will help out. The investors will eventually lose everything, but that will put us on the way to having everything we need to be created through completely automated systems.

Of course, there will still be jobs for those who really want them - or more likely, who want them and are good at them - or even more likely, who knows the right people… but if we can get our basic needs taken care of it night not fully end poverty but it would be a step in the right direction.

But, alas… It’s Musk saying it so it’s only to further enrich himself and won’t actually happen.

LMAO! My friend, he’s just saying it so he can get the government to buy a bunch of robots so he can meet the Tesla pay agreement requirements and become a trillionaire. There are so many reasons what your fantasy can’t and won’t happen.

There are established methods of eliminating poverty. They are decried by the right-wing as bad.

Just look at why there are so few homeless and incarcerated people in the most developed European nations… they must be doing something right.

Yup. That was 5 years ago and his fortune has like tripled since then. Well, his latest pay package is worth more than triple of what he was worth 5 years ago ($1 tn vs $300 bn).

We should totally trust him this time though!

That’s not money, that’s power. Money quits being money somewhere around a million dollars a year-ish, call it 100M lump sum. Above that, more money isn’t an abstract thing you buy goods, services and real-estate with, it’s power: the power to command other people to do your bidding.

            I still think there’s a difference.

When people talk about wielding money like power, its more along the lines of

            • if you don’t do what I say, I’ll destroy you by doing XYZ.
            • you better change your laws or I can fuck shit up in some way.
            • I can break the law because you can’t fucking touch me.
            • Your example: the power to command other people to do your bidding.

For Twitter he actually used his wealth as actual money to buy something you would buy with money.

He did get power from it yes, but I still think there’s a distinction when talking about wiedling it as power vs using money as money.

These are forward looking claims on something they are building. It’s not quite the same.

FSD is closer, but it is an improving product.

It’d be more like if FSD wasn’t ever improving even and yet he still kept making the claims.

He should still be punished for the FSD stuff though.

The only way a world like this could happen is if the governments get onboard and do a UBI or similar thing.

What’s going to happen is the robots will get made (by someone, eventually) workforces will start laying people off and there won’t be anywhere near enough jobs.

Now there’s 2 options for the USA

    1. Government steps in does something to support people to have a comfortable (not poverty life)

    2. Government bends to the corpos and does nothing and poverty and suffering skyrockets.

For the USA at least, I can’t see them doing #1. It would take a revolution to make a change like that happen, and it’d be bloody.

Yeah, all this automation with robots and AIs could (and should) be good for all people. All it takes is distributing the value of that automated labor to all of them and not enrich a few selfish fucks. Of course none of them realize (or say aloud) that for that to happen, all the money their companies gain needs to be taken from them again (or they need to give it voluntarily).

He also said in his shareholder speech that Optimus would replace the penal system by following offenders around to prevent them committing crimes. He’s a fucking moron who’s been about to get away with making up complete bullshit to pump Tesla’s stock price for years and for some reason people STILL treat him with credulity.

I’m not sure if this kind of thing is just about enriching himself. Of course that’s a big part of it. But he also wants to be a great man of history. He wants to be the person who saves the world. He wants to be forever remembered as the greatest hero who ever lived.

He won’t, of course. Because he’s a clueless idiot. A clueless idiot who managed to fuck up his own PR so hard that he’s burnt away the reputation as a genius that he used to have.

But he really does want to be adored.

In late October 2021, Elon Musk was challenged to end world hunger by David Beasley, the director of the UN’s World Food Programme. Beasley claimed that a small portion of Musk’s wealth could solve world hunger, and Musk responded on Twitter that he would sell Tesla stock to do so, provided the UN could provide a detailed, transparent accounting of how the $6 billion would be spent. The WFP then released a plan, but Musk did not donate the money.

Can’t make the big changes without big $$$ to make things happen.

Unfortunately, he looks like a delusional moron with the life experience and grasp on reality of a suburban 14 year old. So, a couple of good ideas in there, but absolute disconnect from the realpolitik necessary to effect true change.

Now you put a stupid idea in front of me of Musk doing shit for the common folk just because no one in the higher class wants to have to deal with him, just to stroke his ego and make it to history books.

Ultimate pettiness that would benefit the whole world.

Worst part is, some naive part of me believes this idiot is capable of that. xD

    1. Have you seen the “Animatrix”? If not you need to, right now, its free on YouTube.

My opinion is that there are shitty billionaires -and people with tremendous power- i won’t start naming them, we know who they are. I remember when Elon was doing the PayPal thing, I was a fan then, then he started space X and dreamed of Mars, I nerded in my corduroy pants.

Like literally millions of others, I see and have been inspired by the brilliant successes of Elon Musk. We watched him dream big and then pull it off! Reusable rockets!!! Come on! Because hes done way more than that!

I know so many of you can only hate apparently. It doesn’t matter what good a person had done, you will find the negative and shameful and lambast insult and disparage most likely because you have major unresolved traumas in your own life and want to transfer your own pain.

Edit: its uncanny how every single democrat in my area hates Musk and is also a single job home making 35k s year

Did yall see Musk on Joe Rogan 8 days ago?

Dude. You aren’t even talking about Musk. You are entirely talking about what his well paid PR team has made you think of him.

The dude hasn’t done fuck of shit. Just used his money to help others build shit he never bothered to acquire the skills for. Reusable Rockets? That was Tom Mueller you should be thanking. Not the person writing his paycheck. That could be literally anyone.

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Mueller

Musk uses his money exclusively to get his name on things to take credit for other people’s work. Tesla, PayPal, Space X, now Twitter / X. All the same. Musk lacks any actual talent or work ethic. He just has money to attach his name to those that do, and money to pay PR teams to make his image appear as someone that has skills to create instead of wealth to take all the credit from those that do.

IF you want to respect someone that has enough wealth to solve almost all of the major problems in the world but uses it instead to purchase a social media platform to shit on others and warp elections, then you go right ahead. But don’t expect anyone else with a sense of reality to agree with you.

Lol no dude. Musk has been at the beginning and helped create several big name businesses. I read 2 different biographies of musk. And 1 point your making is true, he certainly didn’t do everything by himself. It would be moronic to assume as such. Musk has AT LEAST been smart enough to hire outstanding people to help accomplish to dreams/goals so that his endeavors would succeed.

If you’re unable to see or comprehend that elon musk is by definition, a brilliant person that will probably be the first trillionaire. You’re an idiot, and get out of my face.

I bet it has something to do with this transgender son that you people hate Elon so much.

I’m betting this comment may be removed.

Edit: I have literally talked to Elon in RL. For 5 minutes… but whatever…

Or just give all your money away to poor people. By my calculations that would be about $25k per poor adult.
