From an American-
I’m sure by now you all have seen our government’s ‘official response’ to your wildfires. I saw that, and as an American I am beyond appalled. Please know that the public statements made by our government do not reflect the thoughts and beliefs of the majority of the American people.
When the US had wildfires, Canada sent us significant support including numerous firefighting aircraft, air crews, and support equipment. This was not a small token contribution, it made a real difference. It saved lives and property and forest. That is how neighbors and friends are supposed to help each other out, and we appreciated the hell out of it. It is not forgotten.
To hear that our ‘official response’ to your wildfires is to threaten… I have no words to describe the feeling. I am proud to be American, I love my country, but today I am ashamed. That these things are being said as representative of me and my countrymen… it is beyond shameful. We are supposed to be better than this. Better allies, better neighbors, better humans. I am ashamed and angry that my government is representing me and my fellow Americans in this manner.
I can only say that the majority of Americans do not feel this way. Forget the propaganda you see on the news (and it is mostly propaganda). The people of this country love our northern friends, we feel for you. We don’t want to annex Canada or punish you for a natural disaster or any of this crap. We want you all to be safe. We want to help.
THAT is who we are, even if we suck at electing politicians that represent that belief.
Stay safe. Be well. We love you.

Go fuck yourself. You’re not “one of the good ones,” you’re a fascist enabling coward more interested in virtue signaling than going on the offense against Nazis. You’re a pants-pissing, craven (probably white) milquetoast liberal who cares more about their own relative comfort than about democracy.
Dont play innocent in your own democracy. You arent.
No sympathy, please. Our elected government, voted in for a second term by Americans too God damn dumb to realize they were getting conned, erased 100 years of progress in six months. All through propaganda aimed at REAL America. Middle States, southern states, predominately white states, where more Americans live maleducated lives in poverty, working as manual labor in yesterdays industries because they weren’t afforded the luxuries of other states. The imbalance of power is wilder than I’ve ever experienced. Someone said “send help.” While some of you scoffed at this plea, or just shit all over it, I can feel the desperation. I’m about as far left as I can get without removing walls of logic. We literally have concentration camps. An SS of fuckers too scared to join the military and too fucking dumb to be cops abducting folks, while onlookers are fired upon so these fucks can protect their identities (black and latinx Americans working for ICE can suck a .22, anything white that moves in groups of 4 or more males, shoot on sight).
Uneducated Americans with generational hatred toward anything different than themselves. Their pappy’s pappy hated everything other than white straight people, and that shit gets handed down like a fucking family heirloom. I know. I had to break those chains in my family. Parents have died, other family members, formwr close friends, and I refuse to shed a tear for any of them. The first time they voted him in, I told these people I would never speak to them again. Now my friend and family circle is just me, wife, and cat, but I can also sleep well at night knowing I wasn’t a hypocrite or bending in my beliefs.
Which brings me to action. I believe I am doing as much as I can in the interest of my safety, the safety of my wife and cat, and the safety of other Americans (and nonamericans) regardless of political alignment. I struggle with self control in volatile situations. Regardless of strategy, andvance knowledge, scenario, my brain abandons logic and goes on the offensive. No flight, only fight. Never unjustly, in my opinion, at least if you consider yourself antifascist and subscribe to those beliefs.
I’ve also been to prison. I didn’t enjoy it, and although nothing bad happened to me aside from a week-long migraine, I’ll never place myself in a position where I could find myself coming out the other end locked-uo because I was fighting for my rights. Not sure what jails/prisons other Americans been in, but no bueno. Shout out to Catshit, MParker, and Texas.
So action… I want to burn it all down. I fantasize about it (and more!). The thought of certain inevitable deaths fill me with enthusiasm, fire. I don’t want to be passionate about any of this, but I am because other people living in America are losing their rights to fucking exist. Meanwhile, shitheads like me want nothing more than to avenge these nameless, faceless fellow Americans and immigrants. I probably don’t like these people (i like few), but they have rights, and therefore worth fighting for. I would love for all of us to collectively go John Wick on the likes of the far right, but unlike those MAGAts, some of us are just too wise to do anything that could fail so miserably. I’d love to go strength in numbers with all of you fellow people wanting to fight back, but where the fuck is everyone? I’m in a RED AF state. My local antifa is us. Assuming the cat isn’t a fascist piece of shit. What can I do beyond the writing, blogging, calling (might as well punch yourself in the balls twice instead), showing up? When I travel, so do my stickers, masks, and my get fucked bag. I’m unapologetically antifascist. I also hate all other Americans, including those of us too pussy or too fucking locked down in middle class purgatory with a career in a dead state, a cross species family settled into a nice single family home, just enough money to be able to afford the hottest new game eight months after it’s release on deep discount used through GameFly and still be able to eat in. Sounds like heaven, and compared to the atrocities happening around the world, I can’t complain. I also can’t march up to the granite stairs armed to the teeth like the Jan 6 fuckers. Precedent suggests I’d be DOA. We need a militia, or at least thirty middle-aged fucks like myself willing to live out our fever dreams in the name of saving democracy. I have no friends. For fucks sake, I spend time lurking here. Who you think I am?
This is unprecedented. We’re not taught shit about fascism in school. I learned on my own in college after reading books suggested by likeminded people. We don’t know what to do. Voting has been our weapon, by design by our forefathers (whom were also likely scumbag pedophiles), and now that it has been proven ineffective, we’re kinda at a loss. So we protest, peacefully until some homophobe gets butt hurt over rainbows or someshit. Then we’re persecuted, arrested, lives and careers wrecked. Unless you die a folk hero, you’re just another cow on the tracks. We have concentration camps. An SS abducting people REGARDLESS of citizenship status. Mass survelence. Unprecedented. Meanwhile, when we’re not protesting, we’re doing arts and crafts for protesting, or being wage slaves making just enough money to afford food and water. If you have a pet or, God forbid, a family, and you’re not making $120,000 on a cushy part-time schedule, where’s the fucking time, money, and energy necessary to organize and fight? We’re boned. The only way I truly see this ending is in another civil war. With all of us so integrated, it will literally be next door neighbor vs next door neighbor. We could use an intervention from abroad, but we don’t deserve one. Or at least HALF of Americans don’t deserve one. Some of us still trying to fight the good fight against literal evil, equipped with nothing but our wits. Voting has become sooo convoluted, the average American is probably reluctant to even participate. You should see the ballots. I’m currently working on my PhD in my late 40s, and I have to read, reread, and reread again some of the shit on these ballots. No fucking way Earl from the Creek gonna know half the words on that sumbish, let alone hit an option correctly with that pencil eraser and those meth shakes.
It’s bad. Most all of us are fucking assholes. I hate people who look like me, because people who look like me are the villains. Not defending OP per se, but maybe this was their way of expressing discontent with America as an American. I hate the post too, don’t get me wrong, but some of us are struggling with the absolute absurdity of all this, want it to end immediately, are willing to help, but haven’t a clue how aside from using the tools we were given. They could give a fuck about my 2nd ammendement rights if I roll up armed to the teeth wanting to “talk.”
Don’t give us a break, but don’t assume we’re all behind this shitshow. This can happen anywhere, and it happens fast. No political party is any better than the other, because they’re all politicians. But even the less evil side can’t get their shit together enough to combat this.
This is long. Sorry.
- Just another American
I can only say that the majority of Americans do not feel this way. Forget the propaganda you see on the news (and it is mostly propaganda). The people of this country love our northern friends, we feel for you. We don’t want to annex Canada or punish you for a natural disaster or any of this crap. We want you all to be safe. We want to help.
Most Americans may not want to annex Canada if you put that to a poll, but they voted for someone who would, with their eyes wide open. Or willingly stayed in an information bubble that allowed them to do so.
…I’m sorry, but the first assertion is just not true. Most of us Americans DID this, and we are going to keep doing it. This is who we are now.
“the public statements made by our government do not reflect the thoughts and beliefs of the majority of the American people.”.
brother please…
we don’t blame just the one guy that got elected. the problem is the USA people who’ve been wanting Donald Trump as their leader for like the last 10 years…
They’ll do it again…
Your prez is going to tax you because he promotes global warming and the winds blow. The rest of the world knows this is ridiculous. This actually has nothing to do with Canadians, so your time is best spent writing letters to djt instead.
He can’t read.
You should be finding ways to bring your nation back from the brink, not typing sympathetic words to foreigners.
Why not both?
You can’t apologize for other people.
When other people speak on my behalf, I can clarify that I am not part of that, speaking on behalf of the great many people who don’t want to be part of that.
This post is just like when all the Americans were apologizing for threatening to invade Greenland.
Your apologies aren’t worth shit. Go call your representatives. Go protest. Go organize. Go phone bank for better representatives. Do anything but whine to foreigners online.
Why not both? Promise you we’re doing it.
Lol…here’s the thing…“Promise?” You do realize the one thing most of the rest of the world has learned from this situation? Promises from an American are basically useless. Promise whatever you want. Stop with the “I’m sowwwy! Please tell me I’m a good boy and absolve me” crap. If the responses to your apology here tell you anything it’s that we are fed up with America’s and frankly your crap. You claim to be good people? Fine, show us. Don’t talk about it. Show us.
My dude, how do you know OP isn’t doing anything? I mean odds are they aren’t but neither you nor I know that. You’re right, a few nice words doesn’t absolve an American from anything. The only thing that will is cutting MAGA from their government like a tumor but we shouldn’t be punishing people who are claiming to help. I get the desire to unload all the frustration we feel from America on an American but it doesn’t help.
I’ll leave you with this, why hurt someone who is trying to be an ally? What does that accomplish? Critisizing an ally is okay and good. What does striking an ally do other than drive them away?
“What does striking an ally do…blah, blah blah” Excuse me but the way they have treated Canadians lately are you F’n serious? That reply is seriously tone deaf. BTW judging by the new 50% tariffs OrangeFuhrer just hit Canada with if they are doing anything it’s not very effective, lol.
Hey friend,
I’m glad you condemn the position of the US government on this matter. As for the “from the American” part, I would be a little… careful.
Sadly (as much as I wish you were), you are not really representative of the American public. Over half of the public voted for the current administration. Even with the midterms coming, almost half is still going to keep on voting for the current administration. The hostile position of the American government does not belong to a small crazy minority.
I love you back, friend. I’m sorry you have to live through this government. I’m sure that we share the same core values. I’m sure we share the same desire for freedom, love and happiness for ourselves and others. I love you a lot for that.
But again. You are NOT America. The United states has shown irreconcilable hostility to us recently. We cannot base the sovereignty and well being of our country based on the internal political whims of another. Going forward, we have to prepare for the worst. We cannot rely on the US as our “old, trusted ally”. Rather, we have to view the US as a neighbor with expansionist ambitions, from whom we have received threats of annexation multiple times.
Thus, in the tier of foreign relationships, we have to put the US in the same tier as Russia, China and India. Except, the US becomes much bigger of a threat due to our economic interdependence and our large border.
Sadly, this position of Canada (the government and most of the public) will not change till the US can demonstrate decades long stability in terms of a foreign policy that considers Canada an ally.
I am proud to be American, I love my country, but today I am ashamed.
Can almost hear that stupid redneck song being sung in that inbred southern drawl.
You’re either proud of your country or ashamed, not both. Pick one.
Haha I didn’t even realize that what I wrote fit that song…
I am proud to be an American. I am not proud of my country’s current actions. As a nation, we are far from perfect. We’ve done a lot of stupid shit and continue to do even more stupid shit. Doesn’t mean I don’t love my country.
What exactly are you proud of?
I’m proud of my country’s history and what those who founded it stood for- freedom, independence, liberty, and self determination both as an individual and as a society. I’m proud of what those who followed accomplished- civil rights, technology, the Internet, art, music, science, and of course aviation.
We are not perfect. From the day Columbus set foot on the continent and killed natives, we have had a checkered history. Slavery, racism, sexism, interventionist wars in other countries, the internment of Japanese citizens during WWII, imperialism in the 1900s, the ‘global war on terror’ in the 2000s, and the majority of how the USA has conducted itself on the world stage over the Trump years, especially how we have treated our allies and friends.
I guess the analogy I would make is think of your child, even if they are badly behaved you still love them and are glad to be their parent. And even if they sneak out and smoke weed you’re still the proudest person in the room when they win the science fair.
Make sense?
Sounds like you love what your country was supposed to be, not what it is. You love a marketing slogan that was never truly actualised
No country is just one thing. I love the good parts of what my country is and I will work to fix the bad parts. Are you saying I should reject my entire country because some of it is bad?
No. Im asking what are the active good parts happening right now that you’re proud of .
Great question.
One of the biggest things I am proud of is how many people stand up against MAGA and continue to even come out in protests such as the no kings rally. It makes me happy that people are still willing to stand up and be counted for what they believe in.
More broadly, anytime I see someone fighting to make the country a better place it warms my heart. And there is a lot of that, even if it isn’t obvious from the outside.I am proud of what we have accomplished, and continue to accomplish, in the area of civil rights and personal liberties. That is not a completely solved problem, but Americans stand up everyday to fight for it and I am proud of that.
I am proud of space related activity in the US. We have multiple private companies actively launching things on a regular basis, One of which has the largest satellite constellation in the world by far providing internet and cell phone service anywhere on the globe.
And on the government side, I am proud of our participation in ISS, in our missions to bring humans back to the Moon, and to build newer space stations.I am proud of our work with electric vehicles and electric transportation. I wish we were doing more, wish we were doing it faster, but we are still doing it.
I am proud of the vibrant aviation world that is present in the US, more so than almost any other country. I’m not just talking about airliners, I am talking about small planes, and our pilot culture here. It’s easier to become a pilot in the US than most other countries and we have many more small private aircraft to fly. Or build yourself.
Nah, just forget about us. You can’t afford to think of the normal people here. Keep boycotting our products, and keep avoiding travel here. We’re all fucked up, and we may never get better. Act accordingly.
“do not reflect the thoughts and beliefs of the majority of the American people.”
Bullshit. The majority of people who cared enough to vote, voted for this outcome. The rest of your country doesn’t give a shit.
You elected a fucking convicted felon, rapist, child molester and known con man to lead your country. He started a party of MAGA filled with the most deplorable cunts your country can offer. This fat fuck and MAGA members attacks and insult long time allies and partners.
When the US had wildfires, we sent our people to help. Our people have died doing this. This is what allies and friends do.
Next time you’re on fire, I really hope Canada turns our back on you and says “Burn, bitch.” I know we won’t because we still collectively think of you as allies that might get their shit figured out. But the US can eat a big fucking sack of dicks as far as I’m concerned. I fucking tired of this shit.
Quit asking for forgiveness and fix your fucking house. Until then, I don’t care what you have to say.
Remember that Canada only avoided PP because America got to the election first
And Carney gonna have a hard time winning another election if he keeps on his currently strategy so we might end up with PP anyway
As an American who despises the administration and how we’re treating our allies, I agree with you. There’s no point in apologizing or trying to save face or whatever. This country needs to eat bags of dicks until they finally suffer enough to quit doing the same stupid ass shit.
Please stop sending help. Please stop acting like we’re still normal. Until Trump and enough of his supporters get beaten in the face with the consequences of their actions, they will not stop.
We stopped educating everyone with less money than the average middle class. You cannot reason with them because 1) they struggle with logic, and 2) they accept wholesale, without question, the utter lies and propaganda of the monied right-wing. They will simply have to learn the hard way, by suffering.
We don’t want words. We want actions. Use your 2nd amendment.
Why don’t YOU do it? Why don’t you travel to the US and use the second amendment? Or hell, just steal a gun and commit an act of random stochastic terrorism like you’re encouraging folks to do. You’re just as capable of any American citizen of this. In the US, guns are easy to acquire if you’re willing to steal them. And the second amendment is entirely irrelevant, as is your nationality and assumed lack of US citizenship, as the law isn’t really relevant in these scenarios. You’re talking about committing some sort of mass shooting against politicians or other political figures. If you’re not walking away from that alive; the law is completely irrelevant for you. You’re just as capable of doing this as any American citizen.
In the end, you’ll be just as dead and have accomplished just as much as the Americans you are encouraging to pointlessly throw their lives away.
There’s no lasting change that can be effected by a one person act of terrorism. It takes mass organization, and people will have to be desperate. In this case, it might take civil war.
Hell yeah, break that removed up!
What, start violent action against the state? Do you understand what that means? Like, really REALLY understand what that means?
It means your house gets bombed to bits. You die, along with your friends. Civilians die, little children die.
“Use your 2nd amendment” does sound really cool. That’s until you truly understand the consequences of this.
Isn’t the US threatening us with annexation?
Yes it is. But military action hasn’t happened. There’s no intelligence that the US is preparing for something like that. Hence, you asking someone to “use the second amendment”, is you asking someone else to die for you, because you perceive their state to be a threat to you.
Not cool.
What’s the point of the 2nd amendment it you refuse to use it.
Go read Howard Zinns book that was mentioned in good will hunting
Yes it’s bloody and people will die, but that’s the price you pay if you let things get to this point.
Remember you are already being killed. You’re being kidnapped from your homes. Your children are being separated from their parents.
What more needs to happen for you to think the 2nd amendment is supposed to be used?
Here’s the thing. American citizens had the chance to “fix” (well kinda…better than this crap at least) their issues at the ballot box…they failed…and failed HARD. A 2nd Amendment solution (and I sincerely hope I’m wrong about this) is what you’re likely left with. “Not Cool”…yup I’d say the situation you put yourselves into is pretty “Not cool”.
Thanks for the kind words, but I’ll be frank. Wanna help? Stop making everything about yourself (individually and as a nation), go fix your country’s broken-ass system, and come visit us and buy our stuff if you like in the meantime. If you want our trust back, figure out how the worst living caricature of America achieved the highest political office a second time, and how will you collectively prevent that from happening again? Personally, I’ll come celebrate when it happens, but that will only be the start of a generation’s worth of work to rebuild what was lost.
Yours truly,
Canadian fed up with the constant BS from the states.
All 100% valid.
Our problem is a lot deeper than politics. Painting with somewhat broad strokes- our education system does a shit job of teaching critical thinking and analytics, but does a great job of teaching kids that learning and research are boring and not fun and should be avoided when possible. Then we bathe these kids in a fire hose of short form videos (which we’ve exported worldwide- sorry :( ) and the result is generations of kids who don’t research anything and can’t pay attention to anything for more than 90 seconds.
The result of that is that overwhelmingly Americans get election-related information by ‘push’ channels- TV, news, advertisements. Independent research into candidates is not common. And the crap we have now is the result- not just Trump but a Congress that’s too focused on re-elections and thus has no idea how to wield power or when it should be wielded.
We’re in a bad state. It took multiple generations to get into this crap and it will take multiple generations to dig ourselves out- assuming we as a nation even have the wherewithal to realize that digging out is necessary let alone the willpower to do it. I love my country, but I’m fearful of our future, especially over the next few decades.
Honestly I worry that USA will end up like the film Idiocracy and the rest of the world will just build a giant wall around USA to keep us from screwing anything else up :(
What is your goal? What is it you think your words are going to accomplish? Canada isn’t the problem here, you are. Go talk to other Americans with this sentiment because they are the ones that need to hear this emotion from you.
I believe that in every group, outsiders will see the group as represented by its loudest and most visible subgroup, unless other members of the group take steps to distance themselves from that subgroup.
Fact is, we elected the dude. We regret it (according to the latest approval polls at least) but we still elected him. And Trump / MAGA are by far the loudest and most visible subgroup of Americans, at least I assume they are to the outside. Thus, someone on the outside could reasonably assume that Trump speaks for all of the country, myself included, unless some of the rest of us stand up and say ‘he doesn’t speak for us, that isn’t our message’.
So my goal here is to do just that- even as one person, to stand up and say Trump doesn’t speak for me, his hate filled comments are NOT my message and not the message of a great many Americans. We love our northern neighbors and we have a lot more respect for you all than our leadership is showing.
You can do with that what you will. What I hope you take from it is an understanding that we do not all speak with one voice, that there are decent people in the US and we’re not just MAGA idiots and racist hicks.
This is much better than an apology. Just start saying stuff like this instead of apologizing maybe? Might be better received ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Buddy, USA is already in full Idiocracy mode. Everyone has been watching it happen with horror for decades. Now it’s gotten so bad it’s affecting your country’s relationships with other countries. Stop posting apologies and learn how to do political activism to vote out the current fascists before it’s too late.
Boo Hoo. I’m really sick of reading how sorry you are when you repeatedly elect scumbags like Bush Jr. or Trumpenfuhrer and then think everything is OK when you elect a Weimarcrat. Read a few history books (if capable) and find out what to do when confronted with an authoritarian or unresponsive government. A lot of the rest of the world understands that as bad as Trump is, he is merely a symptom of a deeply sick and diseased society. Yourself , like a lot of Americans, think a strongly worded tweet somehow absolves them of blame. It does not. Fix your s**t and stop whining online.
So are you getting rid of your own Weimarcrat or just whining online
Exactly. We aren’t.
I think folks who comment unhinged (and rude) stuff like this just do so to sound “cool” or whatever.
I really fail to comprehend their end goal when they say shit like this. It just needlessly makes everything toxic and hostile.
Thing is Weimarcrats are actually tolerable when their society doesn’t crap up a fascist movement. And it’s not whining. It’s an attempt to motivate (probably futile tbh) a bunch of sad sacks who don’t have enough sense to come in out of rain.
