Other examples included “forcing someone to prostrate themselves” and “visiting our offices or related facilities without permission.” If any such behavior is confirmed, Sony says it may “restrict or suspend customer service” to protect its employees — and, if necessary, contact “police, lawyers, etc.” to take legal action or begin criminal proceedings against them.

“Due to the decisions we made, we now fear our own customers”. You know, companies that make good products don’t usually fear their customers.
I was literally ready to buy a PS5 for GTA6, money set aside and all. PC gamer through and through but GTA has always been my game. Sony completely ruined that, and I have no interest in it. Unfortunately others are buying them at inflated costs and wiping my personal refusal out, but still. One less playstation sold, Sony.
GTAV did the same bullshit, delaying the pc version. GTA4 gave pc players an absolute shitstain version, at release even the strongest systems couldn’t hold a steady 30 fps with max settings.
Rockstar used to be a pc-first developer. In the last 15 years they have actively worked against the interests of their original community, and Microsoft and Sony are gleefully cheering them on.
This goes for anyone considering buying into their bullshit: stop bending over and taking it. This will continue to get worse if the profits outweigh the backlash.
I’ve played gta since 2, and I’m considering getting 6 for the pc, but this timed exclusivity is nothing but bullshit. Full stop, there’s nothing more to it. Don’t support it.
We weren’t talking about Rockstar’s issues, but okay. I agree, I dislike the disdain towards PC players, but I also think they make some of the best immersive games out there, and so far haven’t disappointed. So yes, I was willing to buy into their hype and marketing, but Sony ruined it for them.
I, too, was assuming that at some point I would end up buying a PS5 even though I’m primarily a PC gamer now. I am now also extremely unlikely to do so.

That’s wild. So basically a user asking for compensation is treated as the same threat level as that user walking into their offices armed.
That “considered reasonable according to social norms” is REALLY open ended, too. That sounds a lot like the social norm they’ve been trying to push for “you won’t own anything and you’ll like it”.I mean, its clearly saying it only qualifies if it’s persistent, repeated and prolonged. They’re clearly talking about people harassing employees. Which isn’t cool. Im not gonna be buying a PS6 because of their decision to be digital only. But, harassing their employees over it is not the way to deal with this.
I hate the “digital” framing. Blu-Rays are digital media, there hasn’t been a medium carrying analog information that I know of since the laserdisc (yes, even audio CDs are digital)
What Sony wants is download-only titles, probably with some dumb online license check, but the latter could be had with physical discs as well, though it’d probably be an even worse look.
I want to see Sony advertise a game where the female lead is blatantly doing lots of “finger pinch” emote in South Korea. Put the game on every single screen in Seoul. The results would be a thing of beauty.

This is such a Japanese business thing to do. I’m not even surprised. I understand the need to protect your employees, especially when Japan has a history of whackos damaging businesses that sometimes result in deaths, but this is going a bit far IMO. I think they could comply with Japan’s new law about worker protection without needing to go this route.
In Japan, laws have pretty much always been dictated by big businesses, just look at their defamation laws. Even if what you say is true, if it harms the company in any way, you will still be arrested and are basically guaranteed to lose a case in Japan for that.
I am interested to see if they try to implement this outside Japan. I mean, Japanese businesses almost always try to apply Japanese law outside Japan (most famously, Nintendo), but still interesting to see if it happens.
Sony has never cared about its customers. I don’t know why people bought Sony after they ripped OtherOS out of the Ps3. Millions of people were using that and they destroyed it over something stupid. I’ve been boycotting Sony for over a decade and never understood why people bought the Ps4 and Ps5. Suddenly they all find out again. Well… yeah. This doesn’t surprise me at all.
It’s time to stop being a Sony customer then. I mean, I’ve not bought a single PlayStation in my entire life so, that’s a start.
