Meh, I’m not doing the worst with my Arch setup.
It may be time to switch to Nix tho :3
Also, skirts are underrated. Wear skirts, everyone, don’t even care. Everyone looks good in a skirt. And with eyeliner and mascara too! (imho)
#SkirtsAndEyelinerAndMascaraForEveryone
nixos sounds very cool to me in theory but in practice there’s a lot more in the aur than in nixpkgs and arch hasn’t broken for me yet anyways
Be careful! Lots of malware in the AUR lately, apparently. It’s nice to have the AUR, but when you can’t use it because it’s full of malware…it sucks :P
Yeah, I think it’s still closed for new contributers as well to combat that, so it might not stay as the place to find everything for long… but if people flock to any other easy to contribute package repository it’ll probably have the same problems eventually. I guess that’s what flatpack is for, but it seems so inefficient to me.
But Mint is Debian, right 😭 ?!
Yes, of course.
Mint is Debian and war is peace and freedom is slavery and ignorance is strength.
Of course!So 😚👉🏼👈🏼?
Gentoo = no socks
Gnome
Why’d you have the text logo for the rest but just the sigil logo for linux mint?

You think I can read?

I have a million pairs at home and even wear them outside (I turn them inside out to put on shoes).
Wait, don’t you work in a psychiatric hospital? It’s pretty funny that you wear grippy socks.
These are pro grade grippy socks, surgery you get bearhuggers, spensive hotel with no tv you get Medline. I also don’t WORK in a psychiatric hospital.
You know what’s better than thigh high socks? Leggings. Then you can wear whatever kind of socks you want (or not) with them!
I run mint, btw.
qwq the socks keep slipping down what does work for me tho is wearing nude-color tights over the leggings, cropped to the mid-thigh so they make the leggings look like socks.
Did you forget “I use Arch btw”?
oh yeah I guess they keep slipping down because I’m cheating and not actually using Arch
Leggings are the dream…
No literally, just a dream. I refuse to wear them until after bottom surgery.deleted by creator
Oh jeez…that sounds brutal. I’m really sorry for her, I hope she’s okay…
You sound like a good person. Idk, you might just be a doctor, but…okay this is gonna sound cynical af, but if something serious happened to me and my bf wasn’t around at them time, I’m damn sure nobody would even bat an eye, let alone touch me to see if I’m okay. I don’t blame them, I guess “nobody wants to touch a guy” in this country, I understand somewhat.
Long way of saying: thanks for helping other people. The world needs more of that 💜
Why not? Not trying to be rude, genuinely asking. I find leggings + skirt to be quite comphy and stylish.
(extra points when the bf pins me down and rips the leggings open because pulling them off would take too long)
Bf ripping my clothes is hot, but also frustrating, cause I keep running out of clothes 😭
Hot tho :3Leggins are a dream for me…but alas, with the way they are, you can see everything, even the parts that I personally don’t want to be there…that’s why I’m waiting until SRS for leggings
fair enough. dysphoria over your bits must be the worst.
It really is 😔
I dislike wearing both on their own, but leggings + skirts is kind of magic
I get it, I get it, okay? 😭
I just can’t right now. It’s a boundary of mine.
I’ll get over it once everything about my body is in order tho…No sorry I just realized this is an option that doesn’t make me feel dysphoric or bad for whatever reason all in your own time :)
This exact meme unironically made me try NixOS half a year ago.
It’s now among my favourite distros, and I run it on my main laptop.
Check out Lix too, it’s basically Nix but better (w/ governance and has no AI slop)
nix is ai slop now, go with guix
unfortunately it will turn your socks into loose white long johns with a butt hatch
Hey don’t diss te butt hatch. It’s got its uses (mostly hatching for the butt)
Why not lix?
honestly, because nix the language is bad and unnecessary. nix the community/nix the system is one thing, and lix adresses that, but my basic gripe is that they decided to make a new language when so many already exist, then make it the most weird, inconsistent mess since c++.
what’s inconsistent about nix?
Have a look at Guile Scheme like Guix uses and see what consistency can look like.
consistency is in the eyes of beholder i guess. i personally don’t think scheme is much better consistency-wise. maybe except the consistent use of parentheses…
well, for a declarative language it has taken on a lot of procedural constructs. then there’s the right-associativity on some structures, currying that looks like nesting, and oddities like recursive definitions. it uses a lot of different building blocks, is what i’m getting at.
i see that as nix being inconsistent with the tradition of functional languages, which is fair. but i don’t think there are many internal self inconsistencies?
of course it’s all based on opinion when it comes down to it, but the recursive vs regular dicts feel inconsistent. the conditionals all seem to have slightly different syntax as well.
i think it comes down to them not being able to decide if they wanted a dsl or a generalist language, and landing somewhere inbetween. they could just have hooked up a lua interpreter, or gone config-only, but instead we got yaml anchors with logic in them.
i always assumed they wanted something that’s lazy-by-default and relatively simple, because that’s what nix feel like to me. and using a language they control probably makes things like evaluation caching simpler? also nix is turing-complete so i wouldn’t consider it a dsl.
if you hate recursive attrs you can always use
lib.fix (self: { ... })
My thought as well, Lix is amazing if only for its governance
Can you link a sauce for that? I’m considering hopping to a new distro (CachyOS didn’t really impress me) and Nix is one of my top picks, despite my concerns about its governance.
got it from this list.
Damn that’s practically every software I use…
The pull request that seems to update their contributing guidelines wrt AI seems to be here: https://github.com/NixOS/nix/pull/15984/files
It seems they chose the path of “using AI is fine so long as the work is checked by a human”.
Guix is great, though; I second @lime@feddit.nu’s recommendation.
Gonna have to disagree with Ubuntu being a higher grade than Linux Mint.
I still need to put on my skirt today.
The distros are ordered by how complicated / “batteries included” they are. Mint is definitely simpler than Ubuntu, especially if you’re a recent Windows convert.
As someone who uses Mint, I’ve got those super-short below-the-ankle no-show socks. If I’m going to go through the hassle of shaving, everyone is required to see how good a job I did.
openSUSE

You can’t just show grippers like that with out a nsfw tag. I’m at work for heaven sake!
If you worked are openSUSE you would already be wearing the uniform.
I’d so wear programming socks if I wasn’t as hairy as I am
You make body hair sound like an obstacle…it’s not :3
It causes dysphoria to see it on my body; it’s an obstacle to me.
That is fair. I respect that.
Thank you. That being said, I will always celebrate the courage and self-determination of my trans sisters :3
I guess you are right, I’m just sad of how much hair is on my body
It’s winter anyway, I recommend cotton pantyhose :D
huh? I wear the programming socks when it is winter because I am lazy and no longer want to shave my legs
Hair can be removed :)
But for how long? I’d need to shave my legs every 3 days if I wanted to be smooth
Same for my whole body. I even have hair on my fingers and toes, that’s how much hair there is on my body :(
As long as you are comfortable, personally stubbly legs are way better than forest so once every 2 weeks is fine for me. YMMV
You can always do wax, which should last longer.
There is also laser hair removal.
True, I could try wax
For laser hair removal, isn’t it pretty expensive? Also I heard that you can buy some to use yourself, but I also heard it’s not safe?
the at home stuff is perfectly safe as long as you have a functioning brain. don’t look at the big light and you won’t burn out your retinas, shave before each use and you won’t burn your hair.
It can be really hit or miss depending on your hair and skin color though, and it’s not like proper laser where the follicles are gone forever. It’s more like it kinda “locks in” your shave for longer, and if you stick with it you’ll also notice you’re smoother after each shave.
If you want the hair permanently gone though, so far the only solution I’ve found is laser, and yah it’s incredibly expensive. Just doing my face was like $2000 and that was with heavy discounts. A lot of places will let you finance it so you can pay monthly instead, but then you’re stuck paying monthly…
Do you have one of the at home you would recommend?
And it works better with darker hair and lighter skin, right?
yeah darker hair and light skin. I use the nood flasher 2.0, but idk if there’s any real differences between ipl devices. I just managed to find it on a steep discount during some holiday season.
For laser hair removal, isn’t it pretty expensive?
Yeah, it’s definitely more pricey, but IIRC it lasts a bit longer than pretty much everything.
Also I heard that you can buy some to use yourself, but I also heard it’s not safe?
Not sure. I’d definitely trust a professional over doing it myself though, at least until I did a fuck load of research for how to do it.
Avatar checks out, bobcats are indeed quite hairy, Bubs.
QubesOS: multiple leggings.
Linux From Scratch:
Here’s a needle and cloth. Go make a skirt yourself.OpenSUSE: sandals and long socks.
Edit (a few hours later): here’s a bonus. going by their corporate/design philosophy rather than their difficulty, here’s a summary, explaining distros as leggings.
A Summary of Linux Distros as Leggings
BEGINNER
Mint: Get a pair of pre-made leggings for free. Not all of its material is made by the vendor, but it just works fine and that’s okay. Literally, just go to a thrift shop, get fresh, store-like leggings, put on, done. Recommend it for everyone if you just start out with leggings.
Ubuntu: Like a meh version of Mint, but promoted themselves more to make up for it. Gradually, companies started to buy from this one because they heard of it. Decent, just slightly more corporatised.
Pop!: Optimised leggings for gaming. Similar to Ubuntu in design, but the programming colours pop! out more. Also, it can fold its parts out and in with remarkable ease, so you can multitask easily. Quick to put on and easy to move in, great performance.
Zorin Unlike other distros, its vendor has got more focus on being for-profit. But it’s pretty accessible and comfy to wear, and it comes with looks that resemble those of Windows or Mac leggings, if you preferred those.
INTERMEDIATE
Fedora: Much of the material is made by the vendor and you know where it’s from. Material adjusts swiftly to seasons. American company finances the community (in exchange, they make their own version they sell to others).
OpenSUSE: Same story as Fedora financing-wise, except the backer is German. Comes with their intuitive sewing & usage manual. It comes with a self-restore kit for when you fuck up. The vendor has two types of leggings: Leap, where the style periodically shifts for seasons, and Tumbleweed, which adapts quickier.
Debian: All of the material is made by the vendor. You can see how the fibers are connected and where it’s from. Its materials are very slow to adapt to seasons, but it never rips.
ADVANCED
Tails: Nobody should know what’s under those leggings, right? So grab a one-use legging from the box that fits inside a pocket. Put it on, go anywhere, put off and destroy the legging. You can pull a new legging from that box afterward.
Arch: Here’s the material and here’s a manual for letting the leggings (adjusted to your wish) be made. Once completed, it adjusts fast to seasons whenever you wash it yourself - so don’t forget to then throw it in a washing machine!
Kali: The leggings aren’t too comfy or casual, but included is: a tool list to learn to spot mistakes and erasures in legging construction, and tools for fixing those.
QubesOS: A legging on which you can stitch different legging parts, so people don’t know which legging you truly wear. Someone damages one of your parts? Just rip it off and put a new on. Parts will eventually be damaged anyways, so better make sure all the parts are separate and can be replaced without problems.
Lix: Here’s the material and an instruction manual for making it yourself. And here’s a customisation menu for how exactly you want your leggings, alongside with a washing machine and a self-restore kit in case you fuck up (see also: OpenSUSE).
SUFFERING, WHY DO YOU DO THIS?
Gentoo: Here’s a stitch and needle. Now go make your own leggings. But don’t worry, there’s a manual for making the parts fit together, but it’s much more of a hassle than Arch and might rip quite often if you forgot a thread here or here. You’ll understand more of how the leggings work, though.
Linux from Scratch: The above vendor clearly doesn’t know the entire process. I can do anything! They skipped the very begin. Here’s my advice. Go bloody make a stitch and needle from raw materials yourself. Then make your own leggings. Manual for making parts fit together not included. After all, you’ll make it truly your own.
Leather socks tho

I use nix and mint, my socks are in a quantum superposition
Where’s my gentuwu gang?
GentUwU! I used to use that! It was great, just…compiling everything takes a loooong time, lol
UwU. I try to run World updates overnight on a weekend. Works for me. I do get kicks out of everything being blazingly fast and using little ram.
I admit. It’s more like having a tamagotchi tho. …
See that’s why it’s so good. If you ever want to justify a CPU upgrade, tell yourself it speeds up emerge @world
this is slander, i use debian (btw) and my socks are much longer than that
Debian ftw! Coolest logo of them all :3
